Bio

Professor at the Jagiellonian University, Doctor of Laws. Expert, legal counsel with many years of practical experience in civil law (including contract law, real estate law) and litigation, banking and financial and capital market regulation, NewTech, personal and non-personal data protection law, new technology law, corporate law, bankruptcy and restructuring law (including bank restructuring), private international law. As a legal advisor and attorney, he supports the boards and legal departments and outsourcing departments of companies – both those operating globally and on a national or local scale. He prepares specialized legal opinions for national and international law firms, advises offices and institutions (e.g., the Bank Guarantee Fund, the Polish Bank Association), local government units (e.g., the City of Warsaw), receivers and restructuring advisors, as well as individuals and consumers. Previously, he was a member of the supervisory board of a joint stock company with Treasury participation.

He combines his legal practice with academic work. He is a professor at Jagiellonian University and holds a postdoctoral degree in the Department of Civil Law. He gives lectures and seminars on civil law, financial market and new technologies. Lecturer at the Jagiellonian University School of German Law. Conducted research during her stays at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht in Hamburg (Germany), at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence-Fiesole (Italy) and Research at Universite d`Orlean (France). Member of examination commissions, appointed by the Minister of Justice, for professional notary examinations. Member of examination committees at the District Bar Council for the Bar Colloquium. Long-time lecturer at the District Bar Council. She conducted training courses at the Institute of Banking Law Training. She also taught at the University of Lviv and Ternopil (Ukraine) within the framework of the Jagiellonian University’s School of Polish and European Law.

She is a member of the Society of Polish Economists, a new technology group. For projects combining technological, business and legal experience and knowledge, she has worked with the Coalition for Polish Innovation (KPI), which brings together global technology companies (e.g. IBM, Microsoft, Oracle), local software houses, banks and universities. As an expert, she participates in the drafting of laws, both at the level of Poland and European Union regulations. Expert in the European Union Blockchain Observatory and Forum, established at the initiative of the European Commission and the European Parliament as part of the implementation of the European Digital Strategy for the European Union. Previously, she was a member of the problem teams of the Civil Law Codification Commission on the performance of obligations and the consequences of their non-performance, as well as the regulation of the provision of services. She was an associate of the Government Legislation Center. She served as an ad hoc arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration at the National Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw. Long-time expert in the World Bank (World Bank) Doing Business program.

She is a member of the program board of the journal Transformations of Private Law, as well as a program board member of the annual international conference ACM Symposium on Applied Computing organized by the University of Geneva/Switzerland and the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP).

She is the author of numerous scientific publications published, among others, in prestigious foreign publishers such as Oxford University Press and Routledge. Co-author of the acclaimed Commentaries to Civil Law (ed. P. Machnikowski) and Banking Law (ed. F. Zoll), as well as Company Law (ed. Soltysinski/Szajkowski/Szumanski/Szwai) and System of Commercial Law, vol: Law of Financial Instruments, (ed. J. Stec). Reviewer in Polish and foreign doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations, including at Uppsala University in Sweden.

Speaker at numerous academic and industry conferences and seminars, including the United Nations Global Compact (UN GC) in Warsaw, the Internet Governance Forum (NASK), IBM Summit Warsaw Think, the Congress on Innovative Economy of the National Chamber of Commerce, the Compliance & AML Conference, the Digital Money & Blockchain Forum, the Polish Academy of Skills (PAU).
